Small business tools: Epson L1256

Small business tools: Epson L1256

Choosing a printer is always tough. 2 years ago, I got a Canon A3 printer IP8770 and it worked hard. I printed TONS of sticker sheets with it for my first ever Christmas Fair. A year later, however, it broke. I really didn't want to throw it away as I only had it for a year, hence I got it repaired for $186. The next year, it died on me again and I decided it was time to get a new printer.

Here are the guidelines I gave myself

  • Affordable with cost effective inks
  • Print function only
  • A4 size
  • Wireless printing

I had an Epson printer the last time, and it lasted really really long. So I decided to look at their range of printers. Epson only has only one printer that fits this criteria, the L1250. Upon browsing on Lazada, I noticed that there was a white version, L1256, an online exclusive! I had decided to just go for whichever colour was the cheapest, and lucky for me, it was the white one!

Watch my unboxing video below!

This printer uses the Heat Free technology, which apparently uses less power to print. This printer is also EXTREMELY LIGHT! Probably a little plasticky, which well, I'm ok with.

The ink filling process was easy and it stops automatically once the ink is filled. Printing on A4 in black and white was super fast, and in colour was a little slower. It could be because I was printing a high res pdf.

At first I was a little worried as the printer didn't seem to be able to grab hold of the 300gsm paper. With some help from me (pushing it down), it managed to catch the paper and prints well. I do note that the colours don't look as vibrant when printing on normal paper. However, this will mainly be for the printing of vinyl stickers. It manages to print teal nicely too, and teal is a very tricky colour for printers.

All in all I'm happy with this basic printer and I can't wait to start printing some stickers for Letters Of Praise!

love, mer
